Why not cricket?
I stopped watching cricket few years back. Small wins, big losses, inconsistent players and uninteresting pitches made me stop watching this game. More over I have a strong feeling that cricket is one of the prime reasons for creating physically unfit Indians. Look at kids from age 5 and up. The only out door game they play is cricket, at least the majority of them whose parents/teachers would not have given a special attention in making the kid play other games.
And how is cricket helping w.r.t physique? Except for the time you bat, half the innings you are in pavillion just sitting idly. Except for the time you bowl, the remaining half of the match you keep waiting for the batsman hit in your direction.
On a rare day, you bat out the whole innings and bowl your full quota of overs. But if you bat out your team's innings, then you have risked ten of your team member's chance of batting. They remain idle or at the best cheer you from the pavillion.
Imagine at least half of the young Indian population performing this task ardently on a daily basis. How much could they have build a physique and mental strength? That leaves the future Indians at a great disadvantage.
Compare the Indian kid playing cricket for 3-4 hrs a day with a European kid who plays just an hour of foot ball or any other game (golf is an exception though) . Our kid is both wasting time on the one hand and do not gain anything out of it. Cricket offers less chance for team work than other games. Without the required physical exercise how are we going to build a confident and energetic nation of youngsters?

Cricket is definitely the culprit.
